Bullpups end season 5-4


The Caney Valley Bullpups had a pretty good season this year. In the past year the Bullpups record was 6-3, a slight decline happened this year as the Bullpups finished the year 5-4. Junior Drake Stapleton, “It went really well and I was happy with the team’s performance. Injuries played a huge role in the season though, but I feel we kept moving through the injuries and got the job done.”

Midway through the season, Senior Quarterback Tanner Rose, on a 47 sweep, he went to go block and planted his foot and his knee gave out and he tore his ACL and Meniscus. As for the backup Quarterback, sophomore Garrett Watson had to step up and finish the season. Tanner Rose said, “Garrett did a great job stepping up and filling the spot! We might not have had the best of seasons, but with him stepping up with no hesitation, I have nothing but respect for him.”

The Pups eventually made it to the first round of the State playoffs. They faced the Girard Trojans. The pups ended up losing 0-35.

“Our greatest accomplishment this year was coming together as a team. We had some bad luck with some kids getting hurt and with kids being sick, but we rallied and came together as a team and was able to succeed,” said Coach Dupuis.
